I had my Mercedes A200 air bag ECU cloned after the original ECU was giving out random faults.
I needed the VIN to be transferred to the donor
ECU after coding, dealer level coding.
ECUs were returned with a full report.
After reinstalling the donor ECU fault codes were cleared and I didn’t have a problem with the VIN number fault.
Mercedes dealer wanted double the cost if not more with coding for the replacement ECU and were not particularly helpful with any of my questions.

If you have a faulty Electronic Control Unit (ECU) / Programmed component on your vehicle, for example it may be water damaged or have a blown component and are looking to replace the unit you may be aware that you cannot simply remove a unit from another vehicle & install it onto yours as the unit is 'Locked' to a different vehicles electronic / immobilizer system. We have the solution! Simply send us your original (Faulty) unit & the donor (Replacement) unit & will will transfer the data from your original to the replacement enabling the used unit to work on your vehicle with no further programming necessary. In most cases we can extract the necessary data whether your original unit is completely dead with 'No communication' with a diagnostic scanner. Once the donor unit has been programmed (Cloned) your vehicle will then start & run, the mileage display & the central locking etc will be unaffected & operate as it should.

Please ensure that both your original (Faulty) unit & your replacement (Donor) unit have identical part numbers.

Scan the vehicle with a diagnostic scanner

1 . Scan the vehicle with a diagnostic scanner & record fault codes – rectify any faults recorded here first & check the wiring for faults

If your ECU has ‘No communication’

2 – If your ECU has ‘No communication’ with a diagnostic scanner it is essential that you check relevant fuses and consult a wiring diagram for your vehicle and verify the power supply & test the wiring to your ECU – particularly test power supply relays (Engine control relay). – ECU’s returned due to misdiagnosis are subject to a 20% restocking charge

If you are not a qualified auto electrician

If you are not a qualified / experienced auto electrician or garage technician and you are unsure if the problem with your car is the ECU then please consult one first before ordering – there is a 20% restocking charge for returns due to misdiagnosis

If your fault is a cylinder misfire

If your fault is a cylinder misfire please check spark plugs / leads / coil / injectors and wiring faults / headgasket faults etc before ordering, if these have been checked or replaced then it is important to check inlet manifolds for leaks, engine compression & perform a vacuum gauge test to check for valve problems.
